Israel – Palestine – Jordan
Day 1: Tel Aviv Arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport. Drive to Tel Aviv and tour the metropolitan “White City of Tel Aviv” – (UNESCO Site #1). Dinner and overnight in Tel Aviv.
Day 2: Drive north along the Mediterranean coast and first visit the “Sites of Human Evolution at Mount Carmel: The Nahal Me’arot / Wadi al Mughara Caves” (UNESCO site #2). Next, drive north west to the city of Haifa and visit the “Bahai Holy Places in Haifa” – (UNESCO site #3) inscribed for their profound spiritual meaning and the testimony they bear to the strong tradition of the Baha’i faith. Your final stop of the day will in the historic walled of port city of Acre with settlement dating back to the Phoenician period, “Old City of Acre” – (UNESCO Site 4). Dinner and overnight in Acre.
Day 3: Leave Acre and start making your way south to Jerusalem. Along the way, visit the 2nd century AD “Necropolis of Bet She’arim” (UNESCO site # 5). Continue further south and explore the “Biblical Tels of Meghiddo, Hazor and Beer Sheva” – (UNESCO Site # 6). Make your way down to Jerusalem crossing through the West Bank. Drive through the undiscovered wonders of the West Bank and visit three of Palestine tentative UNESCO List including the Mount Gerzim and the Samaritans, the Old town of Nablus, the Archeological site of Sebastiya. Continue south to Jerusalem and before checking into your hotel, drive to the Mount of Olives for a fantastic panoramic view the Old City of Jerusalem.
Day 4: Visit the “Walls and the Old City of Jerusalem” –(UNESCO site # 7) including the four historic quarters. Meet the many hidden communities inside living inside the Old City Walls such as the Afgan, Indian, or Coptic communities. Tour the main sites including the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque. Retrace the final hours of Jesus life as you walk theVia Dolorosa or Way of Sorrows ending at the Holy Sepulcher. End the day walking the ramparts walk on the Old city walls and enjoy a comparative view of the Old and New City. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 5: Drive to Bethlehem and visit the “Birthplace of Jesus” (UNESCO site #8) . Beginning your tour as you walk the ancient Pilgrimage Route on Star Street leading up to Manger Square and Church of Nativity. Enjoy a walk inside the historic quarters of Bethlehem and learn about the life, history and cultural heritage of Palestinians in general and the people of Bethlehem in particular. Spend the afternoon in the tranquil natural landscapes as you Hike in Battir and explore “Palestine: Land of the Olives and Vines – Cultural Lanscapes of Battir” – (UNESCO Site #9). Check into your hotel in Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Drive towards Jericho and cross into Jordan from the Allenby Crossing. Begin your tour in Jordan with a visit to the “Al Maghtas: Baptismal site Bethany Beyond the Jordan” – (UNESCO site #10) situated on the eastern banks of the River Jordan. From here, continue east towards 8th century well preserved desert Castle of “Quseir Amra” – (UNESCO site #11). Continue to the archeological site “Um er-Rasas” –(UNESCO Site #12) which started as Roman military camp and then grew to become a town in the 5th century . Drive south down to Petra and Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Spend the day visiting and exploring this ancient Nabatean city of “Petra” – (UNESCO site #13) . Visit the main sites including the famous “siq, a long winding fissure between two walls of overhanding cliffs, the “Khazneh” also known as the Treasury. From Petra, drive south to “Wadi Rum” – (UNESCO SITE #14). After enjoying a jeep ride through the desert landscapes of this beautiful area, check into to your Bedouin Camp and enjoy a relaxing tranquil evening camping.
Day 8: Early morning, drive north to the Allenby border and cross back into Israel. Drive to “Masada” – (UNESCO site # 15). Ascend the rugged natural fortress via cable car and explore this ancient archeological fortress overlooking the Dead Sea. Before heading back to Jerusalem for your last night, drive to the Dead Sea and enjoy you afternoon bathing in the saltiest body of water in the Lowest spot on earth. Head back to Jerusalem and check into your hotel and dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Visit you final site the “Caves of Maresha and Bet Guvrin” UNESCO site # 16 . The archeological site contains over 3500 underground chambers distributed among distinct complexes carved in the thick soft chalk under the former towns of Maresha and Bet Guvrin. Transfer to airport for final departure.
